SAFETY GUIDELINES

PLAYER SAFETY GUIDELINES
All players are required to wear shin guards under socks at all games and practices.

No jewelry, friendship bracelets or earrings can be worn at any practice or game (earrings must be removed, cannot be taped over). We recommend waiting until after the season to get ear's pierced.

No hard casts or braces with metal are permitted to be worn.

Parents have the final word and responsibility on whether a player participates in practices or games. If you feel your child should not participate due to heat, fatigue, hydration, mental safety, etc. it is the parent's final decision. There should be no pressure or obligation to participate if a parent makes these decisions. Please communicate with your coach and have any discussions as needed.

Team staff should never leave a player unattended at an AYSO field.  As a courtesy and for safety, parents should pick up their players in a timely manner at the conclusion of practice and always communicate with team staff if there are complications for pick-up. Parent's who are unreasonable late or consistently tardy may be be reported to the Child and Volunteer Protection Advocate (CVPA) for action. Please provide your coach with a completed Player General Release form from if your child will be walking, riding or bicycling themselves home from practice or games.

Families are asked to always notify Team Staff if a player will not be attending a practice or a game. This prevents concern about a player's whereabouts and allows training and game adjustments to be made.

STAFF & GENDER GUIDELINE
AYSO requires there to be an adult Registered Volunteer at every practice, game or AYSO event of the same gender as the team. A boys team must have a male volunteer, a girls team must have a female volunteer. Registered Volunteers complete background checks and are provided safety training to for their safety and the safety of the players. Registered Volunteers include Team Staff such as a Coach, Team Manager, Referee or a Board Member.

VOLUNTEER SAFETY GUIDELINES

All coaches, referees, team managers and board members are required to pass background checks. These same volunteers also are required to complete safety training regarding conduct and medical issues via our Safe Haven group of courses.

FIELD SAFETY GUIDELINES

No pets are permitted at any field for the safety of players, spectators and the pets at games and practices.

Spectators are required to sit on their team's side of the field regardless of conditions (sun, shade, etc.).

Please sit back ~ 10 ft from the touchline/side of the field when possible.

If you see dangerous objects, field conditions or damaged equipment please notify coaches. Coaches should contact [email protected] for poor field conditions or damaged equipment.

In the event of thunder or lightning please immediately leave the fields for a shelter or vehicle. See the region Weather Safety Guidelines for complete details regarding weather and environmental safety issues.

FIELD CLOSURES/UNSAFE CONDITIONS

In the event of the need to close fields for games or training the region will send an email blast, post on it's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AYSORegion4AgouraWestlake) and post an announcement on the field hotline (818-932-1082) for people to call in and check.
